Resilience Individual & Family Counseling is a private practice located in Layton, Utah. While working at counseling agencies as a therapist and as a crisis counselor at an emergency department, I saw a need to create an outpatient practice that could support people in crisis and provide healing after crisis. We opened our doors in 2014 and have enjoyed supporting the community in developing resilience.
We use client centered treatment modalities designed to best suit the needs of the client. We are trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Client Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Parent Child Interactive Therapy-SM (PCIT-SM), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure Therapy, and Behavioral modification therapies. We use Gottman principles to guide our practice in working with families and relationship concerns.
In 2016, I saw a lack of resources for children with Selective Mutism (SM) in the state when my own relative struggled with this disorder. This child ended having to go out of state for treatment. I was motivated by this child’s recovery and was then was encouraged to develop a program to treat SM for the state of Utah. For the last 6 years, we have helped many children develop their brave voices. We offer individual sessions for people with SM and have an annual intensive outpatient program for children with SM called Resilience Camp.
We provide a therapeutic environment that is emotionally safe for all people; no matter their age, gender, race, ethnicity, abilities, status, religion or culture. We honor the vulnerability it takes to seek help for yourself and/or your loved ones. Call 801-529-3242 or email us to setup a time to meet with one of our team members. We look forward to helping you on your journey of healing.

I believe every woman, man and child has infinite value and worth. Whether we have experienced feelings of worthlessness because of our own actions or because of the actions of others, developing self-love is the pathway toward true joy. When we experience trauma, we develop false ideas about ourselves and the world that keep us in a place of fear, anger, and hopelessness. We make decisions based on those beliefs that cause ourselves and others despair. When we learn to love ourselves completely, we can find true healing within ourselves and the world in a deeply powerful way.
I enjoy working with people who are dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues and trauma. My specialties include supporting those who struggle with a lack of self-love, loss, or who are dealing with an immense amount of shame and guilt. I also specialize in helping children and teens with Selective Mutism find their brave voices.
I'm trained in treating those who deal with suicidal thoughts, trauma and abuse, codependency, and self-harming behaviors. I'm a certified rape counselor through Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Teens and their parents are one of my favorite populations to work with. I am trained in treating Selective Mutism.

I find a significant importance in helping individuals of any kind identify their worth. Everyone deserves to feel and be their best selves. My goal is to help my clients instill the hope that they have the capability of getting to that point. Shame, guilt, negative self-talk, and trauma are some of the many barriers that prevent us from living to our full potential. When someone is ready and willing to add to their self-care tool belt, it provides an opportunity to heal from their adversities and strengthen their love for the self.
I enjoy working with people of all ages who are struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am trained in working with people experiencing suicidal ideation or those that are experiencing a crisis or relationship difficulties. I also have experience in treating children and teens with selective mutism.
Going to therapy can be a vulnerable experience, but I do my best to make it a safe and comfortable place to cultivate growth. I have found a great joy in witnessing clients find confidence and love within themselves as it leads to a deal of other great benefits such as self-fulfillment, strength in personal relationships, and living positively.

I believe everyone has the potential to be and to do something greater than themselves to add meaning to their life. Some of us just need a little extra help. At times, however, society tends to look down upon seeking out that help. As someone who sought professional help in my adolescent years despite stigma and feelings of shame, I can wholeheartedly say that it was the best decision of my life. My experiences working with licensed professionals have inspired me to be a source of support and relief for others who may be experiencing the realities of depression and anxiety amongst other very real challenges facing individuals.
I think our strengths are brought to light when we endure difficult circumstances and learn healthy ways of growing within and beyond them. I am passionate about the power of vulnerability. Though it can be hard to undergo vulnerable situations, I believe that it is when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable that we learn the most about what we are capable of.
I've worked mostly with teens as I perceive them to be one of the most at-risk populations today. I have experience working with attachment disorders, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I feel I have a moral responsibility to educate others about mental illness and the ways in which we can all support one another.

Many individuals have difficulty recognizing their inherent value after experiencing adversity. However, everyone can overcome challenging circumstances and use their resilience to build lives worth living. I aim to help clients realize their strengths and achieve goals in a collaborative, safe, and compassionate therapeutic relationship. I also employ a social justice perspective, connecting clients with resources that enable them to reach their full potential.
I developed a passion for social work after witnessing service gaps and stigma in mental health care, which can discourage individuals from seeking help. Working with clinicians in my personal and professional journey has shown me how important social support is when striving toward healing.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Art from Weber State University in April 2023. I am pursuing my Master of Social Work at Weber State, with an expected graduation date in April 2025. Within the past year, I completed an internship at Weber Human Services, a community mental health agency in Ogden. I work at Weber State University Disability Services as a part-time Disability Advisor.
I have the most experience working with young adults who face challenges such as anxiety and depression. I also have three years of experience working with people who have disabilities, including autism and ADHD. Additionally, I have training in working with children who have selective mutism. Overall, I am passionate about helping people of diverse backgrounds become empowered.

Selective Mutism
Selective Mutism (SM) is a social anxiety disorder in which a child is usually able to speak normally at home but is unable to vocalize in social situations and with certain people. This disorder usually is diagnosed around ages 3-6 during the child’s first experience in the school setting. A child with SM who is hurt or needs to use the bathroom can remain unable to ask for assistance. This is very problematic and can have negative emotional, social and academic effects.
This disorder is not a result of traumatic experiences or because the child is being obstinate. It is not a phase or something the child will simply grow out of on their own. Children with SM need intervention to help them gain confidence and learn skills to practice using their brave voice. The good news is, SM is completely treatable.
If you have a loved one that you feel might struggle with SM, contact us for a free 15 minute consultation. You can also visit our SM website which includes resources and details on future SM intensive camp opportunities.
